Hurricane Preparedness Forum – Dare County and National Weather Service – June 21, 2021

Dare County Emergency Management Director Drew Pearson was joined by Erik Heden, the National Weather Service’s local warning coordination meteorologist, for a Hurricane Preparedness Forum that was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021. The event was held virtually and in-person at Dare County’s Emergency Operations Center in Manteo.

Speakers at the forum shared important information on preparedness actions as well as updates on weather service forecast products. Topics also included important preparedness efforts and why it’s so imperative to never focus only upon the category of a storm but instead to focus on the storm’s potential impacts.
